"In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous." — Aristotle
I've been a photographer most of my life, ever since a teacher of mine put his DSLR into my hands and told me to go and use it. But I only sensed the urge of creating something that goes beyond the sheer documentation of what I see when I started focussing on nature and wildlife photography.
Only my pictures never really seemed to capture and express all the beauty that would evoke the feelings that I had when experiencing a scene. The peace when standing at the beach, feeling the warm sand around my toes, listening to the sound of the waves, letting the sun sooth my skin. The curiosity watching a falcon hunting, hovering in one spot and patiently waiting before diving for his prey with unbelievable speed. I will never forget my excitement when I heard deer roaring and shortly after recognizing the cracking of antlers when two male started fighting. It was dark I could not even see anything, but the energy of the scene was unbelievable.
Nature is intense, colorful, energetic and unpredictable and that is what my pictures shall show.
Not so long ago I started painting watercolor. I loved the explorative nature of the technique, since the flow of water is hard to fully control. I was wondering how to translate that to photography.
Then I discovered pictures of very talented photographers from all types of genres using creative techniques like ICM, double exposure, long exposure and more. This was exactly what I had been searching for.
And finally I found other likeminded nature and wildlife photographers who extend the definition of a good photo beyond accurate 1:1 replication and they boosted my confidence.
I started learning photography again, from a totally new angle - and I love the results. The pictures bring back the feelings in me that I had when strolling through nature and experiencing all the marvelous that is there.
Although this is only the beginning I decided to share my work hoping it can do for you what it does for me.
